I found a baby bunny......what do I do step1 : Is the baby bleeding, very cold, limping,a
victim of a dog or cat attack,or unconcious?
If so call the center immediatly.
step2 : If the answer to the above questions is
NO,search for a nest or den, if the nest is intact
put the baby back in the nest.If the nest has been
disturbed you can still put the baby back in and
cover it up with dry grass(not wet as this robs
the baby of it's body heat).Place two sticks in an
X over the nest and leave the area.Mother bunnies
only feed thier babies at dawn and dusk, check the
nest in 12 hours and if the stick X that you made
IS messed up, leave the babbies alone it means
that mom has come back.If the stick X IS NOT
messed up then mom hasn't returned call the
centerfor further instructions.
Step3 : If you find rabbits that have thier eyes
open and are hopping around and nibbleing on
grass, and they just look too tiny to be away from
mom they are only the size of a tennis ball,
surprisingly enough they are already weaned they
leave thier mom when they are only 3 weeks
old.LEAVE THEM ALONE THEY DO NOT NEED YOUR HELP.

Found some bunnies
Hi!
Yesterday we made a wonderful discovery...we have a nest of
baby bunnies. There is a downside though...we didn't know they
were bunnies (thought they were rats), we thought they were
abandoned and tried to help them. I put them in a box last
night, still thinking they were rats, and I searched orphaned
websites and found a recipe of soy baby formula to feed them.
Then this morning, after getting a better look at them we
realized that they were not rats, but bunnies! So I read your
comments and just now put them back in the nest.
There were five bunnies and I am a bit nervous about leaving
them there. We live out in the country and goodness knows
there are a million and one things out here that could get them.
So I started thinking and wondering, did I do the right thing? I
put and "x" on the nest as you suggested but has it been to long
for the mother to come back? What if she came back last night
and this morning and didn't find them? Should I leave them out
there or should I go get them?
I'm sounding like an old mother hen!! ;0) I just don't want
anything to happen to them.

Bunny care
I have now rescued two baby bunnies (I think they
are already weaned and on their own as they have
their eyes open & ears up and about 5 to 6 inches
big)from an "outside" cat. Both times I checked
the bunny over to discover their fur was split
open from the cat, no blood but you could see
their little skin and muscles :( I washed them
with lukewarm water and handsoap dried them
carefully and then took them across the street
(where there are no cats-but lots of rabbits). I
am new to the area and the one wildlife rehab
center in my area has since shut down (and the
number no longer works). I am wondering if there
was more I could do? I am worried this will happen
again. Thank you.
